Entrepreneurial Tips For Young Women V
The business world is changing at a rapid pace, and it can be tough to find a way to keep up. This is especially true if you are already at a disadvantage due to gender. Although the modern business world tends to reward excellent performers regardless of whether they are male or female, there are times when this simply isn't true. The young working woman has to overcome bias at times, which is just as unfortunate as it is disappointing. Still, this doesn't mean that you can't succeed in the business world as a young woman; you just have to use the right strategy for success.
Many times a young woman that is aggressively pursuing a career in the business world can intimidate peers and superiors. One of the most important things that you can do to further your career is to remember that you can still get ahead by playing nice. No one likes an aggressively dominant co-worker, and this is true regardless of whether you are male or female. The solution to this problem is just to use your hard work and positive attitude to be an example of your drive, rather than your ability to scare people into submission.
Also, young women are often times viewed as mothers simply looking to make some extra money while their kids are in school. While this may be true for some, it is not the rule and so you have to make sure that your supervisors know you are seeking advancement at the quickest pace possible. Obviously you don't tell them you want their job, but you have to make it known that you are looking to stay as an asset for your company for several years to come. They will be much more likely to promote you when you make it known that you aren't going anywhere.

Lastly, try to be a thinker and an innovator rather than following traditional business methods. Show people new ways to get things done and don't be afraid to risk retaliation by forcing people out of their comfort zone. Many times, when people are operating comfortably, they are not operating profitably. You can be the agent of change in the workplace by simply getting more out of your peers and subordinates.
Getting ahead in the business world, regardless of whether you are a male or female, required dedication and persistence. Although hard work is part of the formula, it is still only one aspect of the formula. You need to improve your game as a whole as much as you can. This means extra classes, learning new skills, and staying on top of your workload and proving that hard work pays off through good performance. If you keep to the plan and don't let up, then you will more than likely be a model of success in the business world for many years to come. Don't be afraid to ruffle a few feathers, but try to keep a good attitude when you can - they'll never see you coming.
